Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Rumored To Pack 500 Horsepower

It will be a mean, lean track machine.

Porsche will expand its 718 Cayman range beyond the GT4. German automaker Porsche is giving the GT4 the RS treatment. This should allow for even more power from the sporty sports car. What is the price? According to and Driver, the GT4 RS will have close to 500 horsepower (373 kilowatts). This is a significant increase from the regular GT4’s 309 kW (414 hp) model.

Driver‘s report does not indicate how Porsche will increase its GT4’s output. The publication does note that the RS’s engine will be the same 4.0 liters in displacement as the GT4’s. Rumours claimed that the GT4 RS would use a modified version of the 4.0-liter engine. This makes sense. We do not know which gearboxes are available.

The car’s suspension parts shouldn’t be changed much. The GT4 borrows heavily from 911 GT3. Driver believes that Porsche will stiffen and lighten the suspension if necessary, which can improve the car’s handling and driving dynamics.

Porsche’s hotter 718 Cayman GT4 RS is yet to be revealed. Car and Driver reports that the GT4 tuned will be available in the late 2021 to early 2022. However, the coronavirus virus pandemic could alter this timeline. The GT4 could be priced at around $130,000.
