A recent report suggests that the 2018 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang may be powered by a twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6 motor.

Automobile Magazine states that a V8 is possible, but they suggest the use of the high-performance EcoBoost V6 engine from Ford GT. Although the decision would not please purists, the engine would produce 600 bhp (447kW) and connect to a six speed manual transmission instead of the GT’s seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.

The model will be powered by whatever engine it uses, and it will follow the GT350R and GT350R’s footsteps with an aggressive body, high-performance brakes, and a sport-tuned suspension.
