We also saw the Turbo GT, a high-performance car.
Porsche is both very open-minded and very creative when it comes down to testing future vehicles. It’s clear that a swirling camouflage wrap attracts more attention than a plain black exterior. Porsche keeps things simple with the strategic use of black tape to cover black prototypes. This gives it the appearance of a regular vehicle to anyone who sees it. To see the truth, you need to look closely and have a keen eye.
This is the case for the Porsche Cayenne facelift. February 2021 was the first time we saw prototypes of Coupes, while they were last seen in late January 2022. Two different trim levels of the Turbo GT are captured in a new photo set. The standard Coupe is clearly visible, while the Turbo GT’s muscular Turbo GT is easily identified by its dual-exhaust outlets at the center. The standard Cayenne Coupe is particularly interesting, as it is shown sporting new production-spec taillights. But there is more to it.
The overall shape will not change much with the narrow corner lenses connecting horizontally to a strip that runs across the rear gate. Although it looks quite active from a distance, Porsche wants you think that this is exactly what Porsche wants. The black and red tape conceal what lies beneath, which is a thicker horizontal strip that has reverse-light elements running further along it. It is very similar to the lights that we have seen on our standard Porsche Cayenne test cars.
We now turn our attention to Turbo GT. There is a lot of black tape around grille and vents on the front fascia. It looks like there is nothing to hide but the tape obscures the true form of the vents.
The facelift will include new headlights, but nothing has been changed at the rear. It is clear that the GT’s current taillight design can still be seen, which suggests it will continue to have a distinctive backside than its siblings.
The Cayenne Coupe isn’t outdated, and the Turbo GT was just launched in the summer 2021. Porsche seems keen to keep its flagship SUV top-of-the-food chain. We expect the new models to be available for the model year 2023.
