2022 Lexus LX Deliveries In Japan Delayed Up To Four Years

Parts shortage in Southeast Asia is being caused by the coronavirus.

You can expect to wait for four years to receive your luxury SUV if you place an order for a LX Lexus LX in Japan right now. The automaker has issued this information to address delays in some of its products.

“Due to a shortage of parts supply in Southeast Asia due to the spread influence of coronavirus, production delay is currently occurring for many vehicle models,” The company wrote, based upon a translation.

Similar statements are found on the Japanese market website for the LX: “We will consider efforts to reduce the delivery time to customers as much as we can, and we appreciate you understanding,” based upon a translation.

The Lexus LX delay announcement comes just a month following a similar statement by Toyota about a four year wait for new orders of the latest Land Cruiser. They share the same platform and drivetrain. It makes sense that one vehicle’s failure would affect the other due to their close mechanical relationship.

The 2022 LX will be launched in the US by Lexus in the first quarter this year. Prices start from $88,245, after paying $1,345 for the destination fee. To get a third row, the base model comes with two rows. A buyer must upgrade to Premium for $96,345. F Sport, Luxury and Ultra Luxury grades are also available.

All LX models in the US have , a twin-turbo V6 of 3.5-liter capacity. It produces 409 horsepower (305 Kilowatts) as well as 479 pound-feet (649 Newton meters) of torque. A 10-speed automatic gearbox is available, as well as a full-time four-wheel-drive system. Torsen’s limited-slip differential is added to the F Sport model.
