DeLorean Driven with Remote Control is The Ultimate Gadget

You can still travel at 88 miles an hour.

This is heavy. If you are a fan of the Back to the Future You’ve probably seen the movie or had a passing interest in cars.DeLorean DMC-12. Although the DeLorean’s design was striking with its gullwing doors and stainless steel panels, as well as a trick fiberglass structure with an iron backbone chassis, it wasn’t a huge success. It sold less than 10,000 cars. It was however, its appearance in the Back to the Future films that made it so iconic. Bjorn Harms (a Dutch computer technician) created the unique remote-controlled DeLorean DMC-12.His name may sound familiar because it is the same man who created the remote-controlled Chevrolet Corvette that we featured a few months ago. After six months of hard work to create the prototype, he spent three more months making it safer and more reliable to use. The remote control was also designed to look and function exactly like the one featured in the movie. It is a Futaba FPT7UAF, which Dr. Emmett Brown uses to show off his latest time machine invention. The remote control has a failsafe feature that brings the car to a halt when it is not being used.

Bjorn had problems with the steering when creating this large remote-controlled car. To fix it, he had to modify an electronic power steering system from an Opel Corsa. The DeLorean, even with its remote control system in place is still legal to drive (at least in the Netherlands). It’s pretty cool. The 2.8-liter V6 has 130 horsepower and a slower top speed of 100 mph due to the extra weight of the movie props (550 lbs more than the stock). We see it this way: If you are going to build a remote controlled car time machine, why not make it look stylish?
