Deliveries begin in November
To keep the diesel-powered, performance crossovers in good shape, the Alpina XD3and XD4 get a series of upgrades. The 3.0-liter inline-6 quad-turbo diesel engine produces 389 horsepower (290kW) and 590 poundfeet (890 Newton-meters). This is 22 lb-ft (30 nm) more than the previous version. The XD3 (100 km/h) and XD4 can reach speeds of 62 mph (106 km/h) in 4.6 seconds. Maximum speed for the XD3 is 166 mph (267 kph), and the XD4 is 167 mph (268 kph).
There is also a mild-hybrid, turbodiesel version of the XD3 available. The XD3’s twin-turbo straight-six 3.0-liter engine produces 350 horsepower (261 kW) as well as 538 lb-ft (730 nm). It can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.9 seconds, and can reach a maximum speed of 158 miles (254 km/h).
Alpina provides a calibration for adaptive dampers. You can also choose springs with a lower center of gravity and stiffer. A new variable sports steering system provides better handling. Standard features include the BMW Parking Assistant, and an electrically folding exterior mirror. The company also installs brake pads with higher performance. Customers can upgrade to drilled composite discs measuring 15.6 inches in front or 15.7 inches back.
Alpina has updated the exterior of the models by adding a front fascia and rear diffuser. The brand’s iconic multi-spoke wheels, which have hidden air valves and lockable hub covers, are 20 inches in length. This design is also available in a 22-inch version. Alpina can furnish the cabin with custom piping and stitching. In November, the updated XD3 & XD4 will be available in Europe. The XD3 starts at EUR85,000. The XD4 is priced at EUR89,000.
