The Next-Generation Acura NSX could go fully electric… in 2023

In just two and a quarter seconds, could reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h).

Acura created a four-motor EV Concept for last year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. It had no less than 1000 electrified horses. It finished third at the Colorado hill climb and was billed the “world’s best supercar with four-wheel independent torque allocation.”

Honda’s R&D Head Honcho said that studies are being done to see if the technology can be implemented into a car you could actually buy. One that would retain the incredible four-digit horsepower concept.

The Next-Generation Acura NSX could go fully electric... in 2023

A full-sized electric race car weighs in at 1,500 kilograms (3.306 pounds), so production models would be significantly heavier. Early estimates suggest that the next NSX could run 0-62 mph (0–100 kph), and the 0-124-mph (0–200 kph), in just 2.5 seconds. This is despite the extra fat.

The concept’s battery pack can provide enough power for approximately 200 miles (322 km) of range if it isn’t used too much. A street-legal vehicle would be unable to match this due to the additional weight of the mandatory safety hardware. However, the range could increase if battery technology improves in the future.

Considering that the NSX is only around since 2016, a successor is unlikely to be available before the end the decade. It is likely that a new model will not be available until at least 2023 because of the Type R and convertible derivatives. Hopefully Honda and Acura will not tease the third-gen NSX as long as they did the current model.
