There are no mechanical changes for the new model year.
Nissan is now accepting orders for the Leaf updated version on European markets. The new model year will not feature any significant tech upgrades, but the updated exterior design and additional customization options should ensure that electric vehicles continue to be in high demand until the high-riding replacement arrives in 2025.
The exterior of this vehicle is the same as the 2017 debut, but it has new 16- and 17 inch wheel options. The updated Nissan brand logo is visible on the front fascia, wheels and back, as well as a new range of colors. There are six monochromatic colors and five two-tone options. These include the Universal Blue and Magnetic Blue finishes that were shared with the Qashqai/Ariya.
Nissan claims that the Leaf will be offered with two battery options in Europe. While there isn’t any information about their capacities, we don’t believe they differ from the 40 kWh or 62 kWh available for the 2021 Leaf. The larger of the two, called the Leaf e+ (sold as the Leaf Plus in the US), has a maximum range of 385 km (239 miles) on a single charge according to Europe’s WLTP cycle.
Two of the most advanced technological features in the 2022 Leaf will be retained. ProPilot technology allows the electric car’s to stop, start, and maintain an appropriate distance from the vehicle in front. The e-Pedal function allows the driver to accelerate and decelerate with one pedal. The most recent version of NissanConnect’s infotainment system has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Nissan is embarking on an exciting chapter in its electric vehicle story, as electric vehicles continue to gain popularity. Leaf played a pivotal role in shaping Nissan’s vision for empowering mobility. We leverage our EV expertise and launch 23 new electrified model – including 15 fully EVs – by fiscal year 2030,” ArnaudCharpentier, Nissan Vice President for the AMIEO Region.
