Are you satisfied with what you see?
The next-generation Honda CR-V first appeared nearly exactly one year ago. Last week, alleged patent photos of the Japanese crossover were posted online. This gives us a glimpse of what it may look like.
Our Kolesa friends tried to imagine how those patent images would look as an actual car. This led us to these unofficial renderings for the 2023 Honda CR-V.
These renderings would be more like the real Honda CR-V, but the huge honeycomb grille is aggressive.
This is the same styling direction as Honda’s 2020 goal – to be more macho, particularly in design and stance for SUVs.
Kolesa envisions a clean rear end, but the L-shaped vertical taillights are a nod towards the CR-V’s iconic design.
Kolesa’s rendering is a little off the proportions of both the patent drawings as well as the prototypes that we have seen before. Both appear to have a longer roof than we see.
Whatever the case, the next CRV will be larger. This is because the Honda has seen a significant size increase. The CR-V will likely follow suit.
Honda CR-V is a key car for the automaker, particularly in the US, where it was fifth on the list of most-sold cars, trucks and SUVs in 2021. The Honda crossover was sold for more than 360,000 units in 2018, an increase of over 8 percent from the previous.
Honda has not yet announced the arrival date for the next-generation CR-V. However, logic suggests that it could happen this year in the 2023 model year. We can only imagine how it would look until then.
