Fiat’s second all-electric product is the Fiat E2.
Fiat once offered a small minivan called Ulysse for European buyers. The people-mover van was discontinued in 2010. However, the all-electric engine has been reintroduced with new styling and a new powertrain. Fiat’s second electric product is the new 500e. The e-Ulysse, like the small city car it replaces, is primarily aimed at urban markets.
There are two options for batteries. They offer 50 or 75 kWh and a maximum range between 205 and 330 km, as measured using the WLTP cycle. Standard 100-kW fast charging systems can recover 80 percent of power within 45 minutes. The e-Ulysse can produce a maximum of 136 horsepower (101.1 kilowatts) or 192 pound-feet (266 Newton-meters). Speed is not its forte. Fiat does not provide acceleration statistics, but the top speed is listed at 81 mph (130 km/h).
These things won’t be important to e-Ulysse customers, Fiat suggests that they could be taxi companies, hotels or other fleet companies looking for a zero-emission shuttle. The multi-purpose vehicle can accommodate seven to eight passengers in a variety of configurations. The Lounge trim, which has seven-person seating, allows the e-Ulysse to have the second row facing third with a folding desk in-between. This is what Fiat calls the “living room” variant. Unofficially known as the shuttle, the eight-passenger configuration adds an additional seat in the second row.
Fiat wants to stress the versatility of the eUlyssee, in addition to its ability to carry a lot of people. The eight-seater has 12 configurations, while the seven-passenger version offers 16 options. Additionally, the table mentioned can be folded into multiple positions. For easy positioning and removal of the middle and rear seats, rails are used. However, with the seats in place there is still 148 cubic yards (4,200 liters!) of load space. The extended-length Long version has 173 cubic feet (4.900 liters).
Fiat offers a variety of technology and driver-assist systems for the eUlysse. Fiat doesn’t specify whether these systems come standard or are optional. They include automatic emergency braking and lane-departure alerts. On range-topping models, a 7-inch touchscreen is available; a panoramic roof with leather seats and xenon headlights, an electronic rear liftgate, and a portable sanitizing device can also be found.
The price of the new eUlysse has not been disclosed, but it will be available at European dealerships beginning in May 2022.
