These were briefly shown along with the revised UrbanRebel concept and Terramar.
Cupra keeps itself busy previewing new models and updates. SEAT’s Sub-brand, Formentor, brought on the stage for a short moment during the Unstoppable Impulse. It had the exact same front fascia design and features as the Leon. The headlights on both cars were completely redesigned with three triangles. The duo also shared a new grille that separated them from regular SEATs.
The all-electric crossover, dubbed Tavascan made a brief appearance in production. In 2019, Cupra presented a concept of the purely electric model. The Spanish brand now mentions that the next road-going model will be faithful to the showcar. The headlights feature the same triangle motif as the original Tavascan.
Cupra has already begun work on a new version of the VW ID.3’s Born model, even though it was just a little more than a year ago. According to Logic, the automaker is keen to maintain a consistent design language throughout the range. This will help accelerate the redesign of the electric hatchback. The company hopes to sell 500,000 vehicles annually by the middle of this decade, together with the Terramar and the UrbanRebel.
Oddly, VW Group, the parent company, hasn’t spoken much about the direction that the main SEAT brand will go, opting instead to concentrate on Cupra. Some people still don’t understand why Cupra was spun-off in 2018. To increase the company’s product portfolio, we know that all of these updated or new models will be available by 2025. The Terramar will also include a hybrid crossover, possibly Cupra’s version of the next-gen Audi Q3 Sportback. Since the standard Terramar is built in Hungary alongside the Q3, it will be able to be used as a complement.
It will be challenging to achieve the target annual volume by the end of the decade, considering Cupra only sold 79 327 vehicles in 2021. This year, Cupra plans to double sales to 160,000 units. However, it is still far from 500,000.
Wayne Griffiths, Cupra/Seat CEO, stated that the brands will coexist peacefully until 2030. A decision on the future will depend on the evolution in the EV market.
