Tom Hanks’ Custom Polski Fiat 126p Sold for $83,500 in Charity Auction

This little car features a restored body with custom leather interior.

Tom Hanks purchased a customized Polski Fiat 126p 126p as part of a charity sale on Bring a Trailer. It sold for $83,500. Carlex Design personalized this car in 2017 for Hanks on behalf of Bielsko Biala, Poland. This was in response to Hanks’s social media joke (see below), where he posted pictures of himself with the car and wrote, “My new vehicle.”

Hanks’ 126p has a clean exterior with an ultra-clean underbody. Shiny chrome bumpers are included and there are painted wheels.

The inside is more interesting. Carlex Design redesigned the cabin using light green leather and contrasting black stripes. Because Hanks is a collector of vintage typewriters, the buttons and switches are finished in silver flake. The symbol of the Bielsko–Biala is featured on the gearshift knob. This was the original production site for the Polski Fiat 126p.

Below the speedometer is the message “Bielsko–Biala For Tom Hanks.” A metal plaque with Hanks’ personal note is located in the middle of the dashboard. Hanks also signed the driver’s door panel.

The powertrain is unchanged. The two-cylinder engine produces 594 cubic centimeters of power and is driven by a four-speed manual transmission.

According to the listing, the 126p received an November 2021 service that included a new battery, work on the fuel system and brakes, as well as a service on the axles. To match the car, the sale included a pair custom-made driving gloves in light and white colors.

36 bids were placed on the car, and auction proceeds went to the Hidden Heroes Campaign. This group supports spouses, parents, and other loved ones who care about wounded veterans or service personnel. Tom Hanks serves as the chairperson.

Hanks sold a few of his vehicles last year. Hanks got rid of a 1992 Airstream Model 34 Limited Excella, which he used for filming all his movies, from Sleepless in Seattle 1993 to The Circle 2017. It sold for $235,200 with buyer’s premium.

A Toyota FJ40 manufactured by Icon 4×4 was also sold. After the premium , it was sold for $123,200.
