Airstream is perhaps best known for its “silver bullet” travel trailers, but they also have many other great products. The new Interstate 24X joins the Interstate family, which includes luxurious Class B motorhomes. It will be available in the 2022 model year.
Airstream says the Interstate 24X was created in response to growing customer demand for luxury off-grid campers that can carry enough gear for adventures like kayaks, bikes, and snowboards. This new product shares many components and technologies with other Airstream models. It is built on the chassis from the latest generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. With an MSRP of $213.850, the order books have been opened.
The cabin’s highlight is the flexible rear sleeping area, living and storage space that can accommodate up to six people. Airstream claims it has the largest Class B motorhome sleeping area, with a variety of configurations possible when you use the red-stitched pillows. The bathroom is another notable feature. It is larger than you would expect for a Class B camper.
The Sprinter-based camper is powered, naturally, by two axles and six all-terrain tires. Airstream applied what it calls “ultra-durable protective coatings” to the bumpers, sides and wheels of the camper to keep them safe when you’re off the beaten path. A 42-inch LED lightbar can be added to the camper to provide the best night vision possible when you are exploring unpaved trails.
Justin Humphreys, Airstream’s VP of Sales, comments that “the wait is over” and that he couldn’t be happier. The Interstate 24X allows those who wish to go deeper into the woods, who want to find the perfect spot for boondocking, to do so. The adventure is just outside your door.
