New Chevy Prototype Identified, Could it Be A Crossover Coupe

Rumours suggest a sportier Blazer or Trailblazer.

Chevrolet will be making a strong push in the crossover market over the next few decades, particularly EVs. An electric Blazer and a new -powered Equinox are on the horizon. Now, Chevy is testing another CUV. Although we don’t yet know the name, rumors say it may be between the Trailblazer or the larger Blazer.

The new crossover was captured by spy photographers near the Michigan facility of the automaker. Although it is camouflaged, the prototype stands out from any other Chevy crossover. It sits high above the ground with large-ish wheels. The vehicle also has a sloping roofline, which gives it a crossover-coupe look.

Camo conceals the front fascia well. However, the large lower grille as well as the shape of the headlight fixtures almost resemble cues from Blazer and Trailblazer. Although the taillights look unlike anything else in the current Chevy lineup they may be temporary housings that keep us from getting too close to the smell.

This prototype’s wheelbase appears to be longer than that of the Trailblazer and has a length similar to the subcompact crossover. It’s difficult to see what lies beneath all of the camo, beyond what is visible in these photos.

Due to the prototype’s sloped roofline, rumours suggest a Trailblazer coupe or Blazer coupe. There is evidence that this could be true. This vehicle, yet to be named, would make it nine Chevy crossovers. This is before the Equinox EVs and Blazer join the fray.

The Equinox EVs and Blazer won’t be available in production until 2024, even though the Equinox EV concept was shown earlier this year at CES. Although it is not clear what type of powertrain this prototype might use, Chevy has made extensive electrification efforts to make it look more like an electric vehicle.
