Fiat’s hatchback has just become sportier in its sporty version.

Abarth, the company that transformed Fiat’s everyday models in to fire-breathing sports cars has redesigned its Fiat 500-based 595 model.

The Fiat 500 has received a new styling and suspension and a stronger engine. The 595 range is further enhanced by bold new colors as well as upgraded technology.

The 595 is available as a convertible or hatchback. It was previously offered under the Abarth 500’s nameplate.

The “standard” 595 is now the car’s name. It has a turbocharged 1.4-litre “T-Jet”, 143 horsepower engine. The machine, coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox, can go from standstill to 62 MPH (100 km/h) in just eight seconds.

The car’s exterior features include a sporty bumper, 16-inch alloy wheels and large air scoop. Inside, the cabin has a “racing dashboard” featuring a 5-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment screen.

The 595 Trofeo offers more power and equipment. The 1.4-liter engine produces 158 horsepower, which reduces the time from 0-62 mph by about half a second. The standard Record Monza exhaust system makes it sound more real.

The touchscreen infotainment system is now seven inches wide and includes satellite navigation, Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Abarth Telemetry is available to analyze lap times and assess driving technique.

You can climb higher up the range to reach the 595 Turismo. This model packs slightly more punch due to its 163-hp output but does not have the standard-fit exhaust.

The Koni shock absorbers, as well as lightweight alloy wheels, make the cabin more sporty. They are specifically designed to cool the brakes better. The cabin also features leather sports seats and door panels inserts. Additionally, the equipment list now includes rain-sensing wipers and parking sensors.

If you are looking for more options, you can add a carbon fibre front splitter and door cap as well as the new Asphalt Gray Matt paintwork.

The Competizione model is the crown jewel of the 595 range. The Competizione model is powered by a 178-hp version 1.4-liter engine. It can reach 0-62 mph in just 6.7 seconds. This is fast enough to be considered a hot hatch.

The Competizione has a rorty exhaust and supportive shell-shaped Sabelt seats. Brembo four-piston brakes are also included. Koni shock absorbers are also used.

There are two options: a bright Adrenaline Green scheme or a mechanical self locking differential taken from the Abarth 695 Biposto. This is intended to improve cornering.
