America is your new Godzilla of the mid-range.
The new Track Edition is a sweet spot between the Touring model and the more extreme Nismo. It will be unveiled at the 2017 New York Auto Show in U.S. specifications. The entry-level model starts at $109,990 MSRP. Nissan will pay an additional $18,000 for the third member in the GT-R family. You’ll also get some bits and pieces from the range topper. This includes the Nismo front bumpers, 20-inch forged aluminum tires, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler and a Nismo tuned suspension setup.
Nissan will add a custom red and black theme to the cabin, where Recaro seats will be used to hug the body. The Track Edition is based on the GTR and features a wide range of standard equipment, including an eight-touchscreen infotainment system that supports navigation and mobile apps. In the unlikely event that the car is stolen, the owner can summon emergency services or track it. An optional rearview camera and Bose sound system with active noise cancellation, and a titanium exhaust are also included.
The 2017 Nissan GT-R Track Edition has the same specification as the Touring model’s biturbo-3.8-liter V6. It produces a healthy 565 horsepower, and 467 pound-feet torque through a six-speed, dual clutch gearbox.
The GT-R Nismo is the most expensive model. It costs $174,990. Nissan will increase the power output to 600 horsepower, add a more aggressive body and make various hardware modifications.
The R36 is likely to be available before the end of this decade. It will use some form of electric to reduce fuel consumption and improve performance.
The GT-R Track Edition, which will be limited in production, will be available for purchase from late summer at $127,990 MSRP. It is identical to the U.K. version. Version launched September 2016 at PS91,995.
