Fiat will be getting its own Mazda MX-5 Miata. However, it won’t just be a rebadged car. The Italian model will have a completely different exterior design that has been approved by FCA bosses. AutoFans.be sources claim that the interior will not borrow much from its Japanese counterpart so we can expect a new cabin with an Italian flair.
According to the same source, Fiat will host the world premiere of its 124 Spider at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. The show will begin on the 17 th with the inaugural press day. It is unknown what engine it will be, but the chances are that it will be a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo with at least 140 PS (103kW) power. This should be a fun little car. It weighs in at less than 1,000kg (2,204 lbs).
As a range-topper, a 200 PS (147kW) Abarth version with a more aggressive body and sportier suspension is expected. This will not be immediately available so it is likely to be introduced in 2016’s second half.
