1971 Lamborghini Countach LP500 Reconstruction Filmed at Villa d’Este

It still looks futuristic 50 years later.

2021 marks 50 th Anniversary of the legendary Countach. Lamborghini not only celebrated the supercar’s birth with a LPI 800-4 but also created a tribute car to the 1971 model. Three years after its debut, the first prototype was damaged in a crash test. However, it has been brought back to life by Lamborghini with an official recreation.

The one-off was made public last week following its online debut. Its public debut took place at the 2021 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Cernobbio, where YouTuber Automotive Mike Getting up close and personal with them Countach new/old . The unique car runs under its own power and makes wonderful V12 sounds. It is likely to have a 3.9-liter unit, similar to the production-spec LP 400. The original 5.0-liter engine in the test car was also damaged during the crash test.

Lamborghini’s restoration section Polo Storico took 25,000 hours to finish the build for a wealthy collector. The interior of the Lamborghini was not shown in the official photos by Sant”Agata Bolognese. We can see it in the attached video at the 6:23 mark. The cabin is a spitting copy of the LP 500, much like the exterior. The incredibly cool Countach rides on Cinturato CN12 and gets the same Giallo Fly Speciale painting job as its ancestor. Lamborghini created the car to a 1:1 scale using a 3D scan from the LP 400 (chassis 001), which was the first production-ready car in 1974. The prototype is a worthy tribute for the supercar’s origins.
