These are the changes for the US market 2021 BMW X5 & X7

The 2021 X5 seems to have a lot of new additions but also drops the 50i. This leaves only the 40i or M50i. The X5 M will still be available, but anyone who wants to have the V8 power of the M50i must opt for the minimum M50i. Satellite radio and wireless Android Auto are now standard features. Remote start is now an option in the convenience package. Premium packages now include Harman Kardon audio. However, the Bowers and Wilkins system will only be available for the M50i. You will need to choose the massage option separately if you want luxury seating.

On the other hand, the 2021 X7 seems to be receiving the most radical option changes. The good stuff has been first: the X7 xDrive40i comes with heated front seats, armrests and steering wheels, a mild hybrid system and remote engine start, as well as lifetime Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an upgraded satellite radio that includes SiriusXM 360L. The Cold Weather Package includes five-zone climate control, heated front and back seats, and the Premium Package for X7 xDrive40i adds soft-close doors, rear windows shades, gesture control, and a Harman Kardon sound system.

The X7 is not perfect, however. There are many options that have been removed. Due to difficulties with suppliers and the effects of the coronavirus on the X7, certain options such as night vision, ambient, rear-seat entertainment, and offroad package will not be available. You can only choose the X7 Drive 40i, which will keep Harman and Kardon as your default and prevent you from upgrading to a leather dashboard.

Those who have upgraded their 2020 BMW X5s or X7s are now the ones who get all the comfort and toys that the preceding years will not. These changes will be in effect for the US market as soon as July.
