At least for now.
After 2020 Chevy corvette deliveries began, it wasn’t long before we saw owners modify their mid-engine sports car. Production began in February and no coronavirus pandemic was able to stop delivery or production. So YouTube videos and social media posts by owners continue to show how they personalize their new Corvette. A vinyl wrap was used on a Corvette before. However, it wasn’t quite as crazy as this. The wrap is not subtle. The styling of the Corvette was not subtle, as the C7’s sharp-edged design was carried over to the C8. Although yellow appears to be the dominant color, it’s mixed in with light blue and purple, with a little bit of black to help separate the clash of the colors. The wrap covers the original Shadow Gray Metallic paint on the car, which is quite an improvement from its loudness.
Below is the video of the final touches being applied before the customer receives the Corvette. Crew members also discuss the challenges involved in wrapping it. The trim on the rear hatch, front and rear bumpers, as well as the sides proved to be difficult to wrap. It’s not a win-win situation for everyone because of the Corvette’s angular styling and sharp shape. This wrap is unlikely to become a favourite at the monthly Cars & Coffee meeting. These disregards for subtlety are not everyone’s cup. Something this loud and unusual could also cause vocal reactions. The internet is here, it’s 2020. Wrapping your car is a great way to stand out and personalize it. Sometimes, you have to think outside of the box.
