It will be available starting at $85,900
Lotus unveiled the new Emira during last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The company did not provide any details on the powertrain. Today, however, the company announced that the car’s Mercedes AMG-sourced M139 turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder will produce 360 horsepower (268 Kilowatts). This is far less than the engine that powers various Mercedes models. It produces 416 horsepower (310 kW) in AMG A45 S.
Lotus claims the engine is a “bespoke” version of the M139. It includes hardware that can be integrated into the car’s midmounted layout. The company does not say how it lost almost 60 horsepower.
Lotus probably tuned the engine to not interfere with the more powerful HTML6, which is also available in Emira First Edition. The engine is Toyota-sourced and produces 400 horsepower (298). It also has 309 pound-feet (420 Nms) of torque, which is the same as the Mercedes four cylinder. The engine is paired with an eight-speed dual clutch gearbox by Lotus that powers the rear wheels.
The Emira First edition will be available with 20-inch ultralight forged alloy wheels in a premium two-tone finish. As an option, Lotus will offer gloss black and silver wheels at no extra cost. These wheels will contain branded two-piece calipers in silver, yellow, black, and/or silver. These colors will go well with the six exterior options – Seneca Blue (Magma Red), Hethel Yellow (Dark Verdant), Shadow Gray, Nimbus Gray (Silver), and Hethel Yellow).
There are seven interior colors to choose from, as well as satin chrome finishes and white mood lighting. The heated 12-way power seat has 12 way power and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. As standard equipment, the First Edition includes the Drivers Pack and Design Pack. These packs include suspension and tire options, privacy glass and parking sensors.
Starting next spring, the entry-level four-cylinder Emira model will be available. The V6 version will launch in January 2023 at $82,900. All prices include the destination fee. Lotus will provide more information about the entry-level models in the coming months.
The Lotus Emira First Edition starts at $85,900 with the four-cylinder. The manual-equipped V6-powered Emira starts at $93,000. The model is expected to arrive in the UK this fall according to Lotus. Customers can reserve their car starting April 8th.
