These four cars will be revealed over the next few months. The Aventador successor is confirmed for 2023.
In a press release describing how 2021 was Lamborghini’s greatest year in terms of sales, profitability and sales, there is information about new products. The Huracan and SUV will get two new versions in the next few months to “conclude this age of internal combustion engines.” Although it may sound alarming, the Sant’Agata Bolognese refers to the end of the line in ICE-only cars.
All new models will be hybridized after these four products. An EV is expected in the second half of 2010. The high-end Italian automaker has confirmed that it will launch its V12 engine before the first raging bull arrives. This is expected to happen sometime in 2023. Aventador production will restart in the interim to replace the 15 Ultimae that was destroyed by the Felicity Ace cargo vessel catching fire, before it ended on the Atlantic Ocean bottom.
Lamborghini has not provided any information about the four vehicles that will debut “in the next months,” but we do have some ideas. The Huracan’s V10 will be getting a Sterrato version, which will follow the name-brand concept in June 2019. As a subtler alternative to the wild STO, the JV Stradale is thought to be the other naturally-aspirated machine. We have seen both machines in testing over the past months so we don’t expect any surprises.
The Urus Super SUV will get an Evo version with a stronger twin-turbo V8 motor. Lamborghini claims that these arrivals will mark the end of gasoline-only models. The other version of LM 002 might not be the long-promised plug in hybrid. Lambo may also show the Urus’ adventurous side with a production version STX concept. The November 2018 showcar was an off-road Urus that had a quarter of its production model’s weight removed. It was intended to compete in a single-brand championship.
The Lamborghini EV will arrive in 2028. It will be a four-seat crossover that acts as an indirect resurrection for the Urraco. The second-generation Urus will be next and it’s going away from the combustion engine.
