Mazda will begin production of RWD Inline Six cars in early 2022

New models will most likely include the new engines.

The Mazda rumors have focused over the years on two things: the return of the rotary engine and the launch inline-six engines. Both are not well-kept secrets, as the rotary engine is expected to return in early 2022. The production of the inline-six engines is still unknown. According to the report, the production date was sourced from “Mazda affiliate parts manufacturers”. According to Nikkei, the production of these vehicles will start at the Yamaguchi Prefecture’s Hofu factory in early next year. According to rumours, the mill will be available in a variety of fuels, including diesel and Skyactiv-X. It is noteworthy that the early 2022 date was chosen because it was believed that new mills would not arrive until 2022 and power new rear-wheel drive vehicles.

According to the report, Mazda is developing large and small product categories. This includes SUVs. The CX-5 will be succeeded by the HTML8 and CX-8. However, the report notes that Mazda will continue to offer all four. The November report indicated that the next generation CX-5 would be upgraded to premium in order to compete with BMW and Mercedes, and receive a new name: the CX-50. It would offer the company’s new Inline-six engines with 3.0-liter and 3.3-liter displacements. Nikkei reports this.

Mazda is a small carmaker in an industry that is rapidly changing. The last decade has seen steady sales, with 2020 seeing a 0.2 percent increase in sales over 2019. Miata sales increased by 13.6 percent. Mazda knows that competition is only going to increase and it is best to position itself accordingly. Mazda’s move to offer rear-wheel drive is in conjunction with the introduction of the inline-six engine. This will allow for more sporty driving dynamics. Mazda has not yet revealed the new inline-six models. However, rumors suggest that they will reveal them by 2022.
