Another reason why road signs need to be taken seriously.
One particular spot in Seattle is a problem for road users. This was documented on a Reddit post that was supported by a video. Numerous cars crashed at one point on a road as they exited a tunnel to get onto an intersection.
The exact spot was quickly identified by detectives on the Reddit thread. It is located along Union Street, just outside the exit point of Interstate 5 (I-5).
The video below shows a compilation many crashes (day/night), indicating that these incidents aren’t isolated cases that involve visibility.
It begs the question, “How and why?” It appears that the section is dangerous due to its location as an exit point for the Interstate. The single-lane bender can pose a danger to drivers who are not paying attention at highway speeds of 60-70 mph (97-113 km/h).
This doesn’t mean that drivers, no matter how new or experienced in the area, are completely clueless.
A warning sign is located a few yards from the exit point (Exit 165), which tells drivers to slow down and leave at 30 mph (48 km/h). Next, the signage instructs drivers to slow down at 20 mph (32km/h), and the next tells road users to look ahead for an intersection with traffic lights.
A huge sign is posted further down the road, near the bend. It warns drivers to slow down and keep their speed at 20. If drivers pay attention to all the road signs, they will find plenty of time to slow down when you pass this exit.
Another proof that road signage is worth paying attention to – we don’t mean on repairs costs. Let’s all remember safety while we are on the roads.
