Apple and Porsche could be working together on something. The automaker has not revealed any details about their plans.

“We already have Apple CarPlay,” Oliver Blume, Porsche CEO, stated during an announcement of the automaker’s annual results according to Reuters. While he suggested that the companies were on the same wavelength, he said it was too early to make decisions about future work.

According to Reuters, Porsche representatives met with representatives from Apple and other tech companies late in 2021 to discuss possible joint products.

It seems that Porsche is focusing on future technology, given the alleged meetings it had with various firms and Blume’s statements about expanding CarPlay. Do not expect Porsche to build the much-discussed Apple Car.

Porsche used the financial announcement to discuss several pieces. The brand has confirmed long-standing rumors that the next generation of the 718 Boxster or Cayman will only be available with the electric powertrain . They will arrive in 2025 using the PPE platform. This platform is also used under the Audi A6 E-Tron and Q6 E-Tron electric Macans.

The German automaker also revealed some details about the 911 Hybrid. This is not a plug in and it uses a small battery for weight reduction. The goal is to make a hybrid that’s more efficient than it is fast.

According to rumors and spy shots, Porsche intends to keep the Panamera on its lineup. The model would gain engines that provide mild hybrid assistance, and a plug in hybrid. This would be included in the next Cayenne.

Porsche plans to make half its output a plug in hybrid or EV by 2025. By 2030, pure electric models will account for 80 percent of all deliveries.

Porsche transported 301,915 vehicles globally in 2021, an increase of 11 percent from 2020. The Taycan’s 41,296 units sold more than the 911’s 38.464 vehicles. This was the 911’s best-ever year for EV sales.
