Stewart & Stevenson FMTV, the current owner of the 1997 Ford F-350 4×4 Ambulance Overland Camper For Sale, purchased the rig in June 2018. The owner then set to work on converting the former mobile military command centre into a functional RV. Stewart & Stevenson M1087 FMTV uses a 6.6-liter Caterpillar diesel engine to produce 290 horsepower and 520 lb.ft of torque. The robust diesel engine is coupled to an Allison 7-speed automatic transmission. It can tow up to 21,000lbs. The Stewart & Stevenson FMTV M1087 includes locking differentials as well as a central tire inflator system for even greater off-road capability.

The former military vehicle was transformed into a comfortable living space by the owner. A 60-gallon freshwater tank was added by the owner, along with a Girard Products GSWH-1M tankless heater and water purifier system. The heater in the interior heats the truck’s interior, while the cooling unit is an LG mini-split AC. The Vitrifrigo DRW180 refrigerator is included in the kitchen. Nissan offers Frontier customers a roof-top tent accessory if they are interested in overlanding at a lower price.

The owner spent hours adding an electrical system to the M1087, which includes a unique solar roof setup. The power comes from Guangzhou Felicity Solar Technology LiFePO4 batteries that can be fed into a 120volt system. The panels power an advanced electrical system that includes solar controllers and inverters. To keep the occupants connected, the owner added Wi-Fi setup and WeBoost cell signal booster.
