Audi R8 Crashing Hard Reminds us That Drag Races are Still Dangerous

They shouldn’t be performed on public thoroughfares.

A comparison of a track race to a drag racing shows that the former is safer than the latter. A full-fledged circuit demands more precision and has been honed over years. However, a straight-line race is dependent on the driver’s ability to react quickly and the machine’s capabilities.

Drag racing is dangerous and you are wrong. We have video to prove it. The embedded footage, which is courtesy YouTube’s Turnpike Racing League shows two Audi R8 coupes (one white, one black) lined up on a drag strip in preparation for a typical drag racing event.

The black R8 was clearly unstable as the race started. The black R8 driver lost control mid-race and began to wobble, resulting in a head on collision with the wall at the drag strip.

The crash had a huge impact and debris could be seen flying through the air. It is not an exaggeration to say that Audi’s driver was shaken up after the crash. After the impact, you could still see the supercar lurching forward.

After that terrible crash, we don’t know if the driver survived. One commentator on the video stated that he was present when the accident occurred. According to the announcer, the driver was fine and only suffered minor injuries from the accident.

This is a stark reminder to everyone that motorsport doesn’t matter which type of race you are in. There are always dangers.

Drag racing is not allowed on public roads. Drag racing is a safety danger that could cause harm to other road users innocently trying their destination.
