Are we hearing a twin-turbo V8?
The new Land Rover Range Rover is now available for order in many countries around the globe, including the United States. It starts at $101,000. Recently, a new prototype was captured on camera around the Nurburgring. It appears to be a test car for the Range Rover Sport SVR. Simply put, it is the best Range Rover Sport SVR dog.
It isn’t a sports car, but it looks great on the German track. It has very little body roll, and the vehicle’s weight is likely to be around 5,200 pounds (2.358 kilograms). This makes its cornering capabilities quite impressive. The Range Rover Sport SVR must be as fast as a BMW X5 M, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, or a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
Bavaria’s performance SUV, the new SVR will reportedly use the same 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 engine that powers the X5 M. However, this prototype strongly suggests it is true. The engine sounds are not as loud as the predecessor’s 5.0-liter supercharged version. Although the exhaust sounds are not as loud as the Range Rover Sport SVR’s, there should be significant improvements in terms performance.
A recent report claims that the BMW-sourced V8 will produce 600 horsepower (447kilowatts), making it slightly more powerful than the predecessor. The new model could accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour to 0-100 km/h in 0.7 seconds to 4.0 seconds. The maximum speed is expected to be 180 mph (290 km/h).
