A formal debut could occur at any time.
Soon, a refreshed BMW X7 will be available. We have seen camouflaged prototypesoff-and-on for over a year, barely hiding a controversial split headlight design at the SUV’s nostrils. The internet seems tired of waiting for BMW camo to be pulled, as a recent photo posted to social media shows the X7 fully.
Wilco Blok, an Instagram user, is the source of this photo. The context of the photo is not clear. A leakage of the X7 appears on the lower left. Although we cannot confirm that it is a genuine leak, the photo looks like something we would expect to see in a press photo.
What can we see? It’s not surprising that the quad-light arrangement with split lower and upper units is a common design cue, but it will be what draws the most attention. The lower fascia details are shown and it is, in short, busy. The lights are surrounded by narrow vertical corner vents. The large lower intake is angled with vertical pillars and has triangular-shaped vents. Unfortunately, the leaked image does not show the details at the center of intake. The prominent X7 grille appears unchanged in the leaked image.
The back of the X7 is not shown in this photo. The rear fascia and taillights may be modified slightly according to spy photos, but not as much as the quad-light arrangement at the front. We don’t expect any significant changes to the interior or powertrain.
This could indicate that a leak of the 2023 X7’s press photo is real. During our year-long X7 spy photography campaign, we speculated that a debut might occur in the second half of 2021 or early 2022. We know that the i7 electric sedan will make its debutnext year. April is almost here. Maybe there is room on BMW’s calendar to reveal the X7 as well.
