It will likely replace the McLaren 570S GT4.
McLaren loves to race, so it’s not surprising it offers track versions. The 570S GT4 is currently available, but it was introduced for the track in 2016. It may not be available for long if the spy video is correct. It is said to have captured a McLaren track car at Monza Circuit. The Artura is covered in camouflage and has a large wing.
Although the video isn’t close enough to the car for details to be seen, a large spoiler can be seen in certain passes. It is obvious that the car has a large wing. However, camouflage conceals any styling changes. McLaren is expected to modify the car’s front and rear fascias in order to improve cooling and heat extraction.
McLaren introduced Artura in 2021 with a electrified twin turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. The hybrid powertrain generates 671 horsepower (503 kilowatts) as well as 593 pound-feet (804 Newton meters) of torque. The powertrain that powers the track car will not be affected by this powertrain. The electric component will be lost, but the engine still produces 557 horsepower (430 kW) e 431 lbft (584 Nm).
It will likely have engine restrictions to make it race in GT4 classes. This could allow it to compete against the Supra GT4 or other cars. We don’t know what the details of this race car are. This could be either the Artura GT4 (or the Artura Sprint), following the tracks of the 570S Sprint McLaren also offered. To really understand McLaren’s racetrack testing, we will need spy photos.
To determine the true nature of the car, we will need to take more photos. According to the video description, McLaren Customer Racing was testing it at the circuit. McLaren has not indicated that they will soon reveal more information about the new car. We’re eager to see the car in person and learn more. It could be equipped with a completely new interior, similar to the Toyota Supra GT4.
