The tornado flipped the truck over onto its side, before putting it back on its wheels.
The Chevy Silverado owner who was caught on video being tossed about by a tornado, is now getting a new pickup. Chevrolet announced that it will donate a new 2022 Silverado for the Leon family on its official Facebook page. Riley Leon, aged sixteen, was driving to an interview when the tornado seized his pickup and tossed him around.
Chevy will present the Chevy 2022 Silverado LT All-Star Edition to the family in Fort Worth, Texas. This Chevy was made possible by Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet. Tomorrow, March 26th, Chevy will present the pickup at the dealership to the family.
Chevy wrote, “We are grateful Riley is safe, commend him for his driving skills in a terrifying situation, and our hearts go out to other Texas families that have been affected or are still recovering from these storms.” To aid in Texas recovery efforts, Chevy will also donate $50,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
It is amazing to see the video of the encounter that went viral on the internet. The video captures a tornado crossing Elgin, Texas. It engulfs the pickup and sparks fly out of damaged power lines. It disappears in chaos but emerges on its own. The tornado spins the truck around again before it flips it onto its back.
Although the video doesn’t show the extent of damage, it appears as though the side windows were damaged. The truck was also damaged, although it didn’t stop it from moving away from the accident.
KHOU11 was informed by Riley that he knew that the weather would be terrible that day but that he needed to go to Whataburger for a job interview. Riley didn’t realize his encounter was captured on video until he returned home. His brother then showed him the video. Riley stated that he was upset about the truck he had paid his dad for, but that will not be an issue tomorrow. He’s also happy to start his new job at Whataburger Monday.
