It’s the Nine Eleven that we all know, but it’s a bit more modern to keep up.
A February 2002 image of a very Yellow Porsche 911 (992) went viral online, showing its exposed rear end. Our agile spies captured a similar prototype to showcase the coupe’s sleek rear end. The test vehicle is uncamouflaged, and only the car cover, along with three Porsche employees, are visible.
This is a great opportunity to see full-width taillights that are similar to the 911 Carrera 4S. However, the clusters are much slimmer than those of the Panamera or Cayenne. The quad exhaust system looks like it could be the Carrera 4S, judging by its appearance. However, it is impossible to be certain when working with prototypes as many automakers use parts from different models.
Comparing to the car that was spotted a few month ago, which featured the “Porsche” rear lettering in all black, this car had a visible silver finish. The rear parking sensors on the 992 shown here are not something that many people care about.
You may remember that Porsche has already shown its next Nine Eleven iteration and it is expected that the Stuttgarters will unveil the first 992 models as soon as this fall after unveiling the Speedster special edition, which is based on the 991.2. The already extensive lineup will include the standard versions, as well as a few plug-in hybrid variants. It’s unlikely that a fully electric 911 will be available anytime soon.
Porsche will unveil the 992-powered Carrera 2S/4S at the Paris Motor Show in October. There are many more versions of the car to follow over the years.
