Middle East buyers finally get a performance boost with the facelifted Patrol.
Few cars can claim a 70-year history. Its humble origins date back to 1951 in Japan. Today, it is available around the globe. It’s known in the USA as the Nissan Armada, but it’s especially popular in the Middle East, where a modified Nismo version made it famous in 2015. It’s expected to make a comeback in a new, updated form at the end March.
The following teaser video is from Nissan Middle East’s YouTube channel. Nismo moniker, and a debut date on March 31. Actuality of the current-generation Y62 Patrol It received a facelift in 2020 for its model year.
The hotter Nismo model was not part of the festivities. The Patrol Nismo will get the new face, with its notched headlights, V-Motion grille and larger intakes. These renderings are based upon spy photos and should give you an idea of what to expect.
The Patrol’s new taillights will be located at the rear. They are positioned above a Nismo-specific rear fascia, which adds a bold black diffuser to the vehicle and cutouts for quad exhaust tips. The red trim will be added to the SUV’s entire base. The racy Rays 22-inch wheels will also be available. These are carryovers from the Nismo model. An upgraded suspension and a tweaked 5.6-liter V8 motor, rated at 319 kilowatts (328 horsepower) should also be carried over for Nismo duty.
Don’t be too excited if you are a Nissan enthusiast in America. It’s unlikely that the Patrol’s sporty design will be seen in America. The Patrol’s focus is on Middle East sales. This is especially true given that Nissan sold only 19,640 Armadas in North America last yea, but perhaps a simple makeover could revive the vehicle’s aging status in the eyes U.S. buyers.
