Honda and Acura dealers now allow young buyers to purchase vehicles that are more than ten years old.
Honda and Acura simultaneously announced expansions to their Certified Pre-Owned Programs. The Japanese marques now offer certified used vehicles that are up to 10 years old for this year.
This is a first for Acura, a luxury carmaker. Honda plans to increase its position as America’s second-best-selling Certified Preowned vehicle brand in 2021.
HondaTrue Used covers Honda cars up to 10 years of age without any mileage limits. All Certified Pre-Owned Honda vehicles are available at Honda dealers. They undergo thorough background checks and quality checks to address any maintenance issues. You can also download a checklist that details the 112-point inspection done by a Honda technician.
Acura Precision Used also offers the same guarantee on premium vehicles older than 10 years, without a mileage limit. This upgrade is made to Acura Precision Certified which was only valid for vehicles older than 6 years or with 80,000 miles.
HondaTrue Used coverage provides a 100-day/5,000 mile limited warranty (powertrain or non-powertrain), complimentary oil change, emergency roadside assistance for up to 12 months, or 12,000 miles, trip-interruption reimbursement and concierge services. There is also a free three-month SiriusXM trial and a 3-day/300-mile policy of exchange.
Acura Precision Used offers the exact same services, but with a longer limited warranty up to 6 months and 7,500 miles.
Over the last few years, the used car market has experienced a rise in demand. This has prompted automakers to increase their product range. This increased demand for high-quality pre-owned cars has caused the inventory to drop.
Even GM started offering a used vehicle shopping service, CarBravo in January. It sold a large inventory of non-GM cars.
