Ram isn’t actually making this truck cover.
Ram takes April Fool’s Day to mock its main competitors, the Ford F-150 & Chevrolet Silverado. Ram Trucker Cover covers other pickups to make them look brand-new.
The Ram Trucker Cover video uses the same format as a late-night TV commercial that is trying to sell a useless product. Unseen narration asks the protagonist if he’s tired of seeing his friend’s F-150. This cover is the answer. The Silverado version is shown at the end of the ad.
This idea is essentially a car cover. However, the exterior looks like a Ram 1500. It is charmingly presented. The Trucker Cover can be used in many places, just like the real commercials.
Motor1.com reached out Ram to find out if they were planning to make a few covers to go along with the joke. They aren’t real.
Ram’s truck products were second in sales in the United States in 2021. They moved 569,388 vehicles, an increase of 1.0 percent over the previous year. Ford sold 726,004 F-Series units (down 7.8%) to take the bestseller title once more. Chevy sold 529 765 units, which is 10.8 percent less than the Silverado.
Ram is currently looking to the future and planning to launch an electric pickup in 2024. The company has only shown it in renderings. However, the styling elements include a bold lighting signature at the front. The hood is large and the fenders are chunky.
The details of the electric Ram’s mechanical design are very limited. The STLA Frame platform is said to be used by the electric Ram. It can carry batteries up to 200 kilowatt hours. It could travel approximately 500 miles (805 km) with this system. It must compete against the F150 Lightning and Silverado Electric Vehicles , Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian R1T as well as other potential rivals in the electric pickup market.
