Mini plans to be an all-electric brand in 2030. The company is working hard to prepare the next-generation Mini Hatch three door. The company is actually planning to launch two new Minis, one all-electric and one gas. Mini is preparing to launch the Mini Cooper SE, a gas-powered model. New spy photos show that the development on the model continues.

New photos show the hatch covered with yellow-and-black camouflage. However, the camouflage cannot conceal the familiar design beneath. The iconic styling of the existing car will be preserved by the new Mini. The EV will be the subject of the redesign. The current model will retain its round headlights and squared-off rear end. It will also have a boxy tail.

The Mini’s current UKL1 platform will be used to drive the new Mini. This platform evolved into UKL2, which underpins many BMW and Mini models such as the Countryman and 1 Series. The new Mini Hardtop will feature a wider track and a longer wheelbase. Larger wheels are also tucked under the bumpers. The next-generation traction control system will also be included.

Although we don’t know the exact powertrains that the next-gen Mini three door will feature, rumors suggest that the current engine lineup will be carried over. Mini could modify the engines to comply with the most recent emissions regulations.

When it debuts, the Mini EV will not be too concerned about these. It will be available in two versions of the Mini Cooper SE Electric Vehicle. A 40-kilowatt-hour-battery will power the entry-level model, offering a range of approximately 185 miles (297 km). A more powerful model will have a 50-kWh battery pack that can provide 250 miles (402 km) range and more than 200 horsespower (147 kilowatts).

The new Mini will be available before the end, and then go on sale in 2023. Mini will first launch the three-door version before updating the rest of its lineup. The three-door version will be followed by the all-electric SE. John Cooper Works variants will also be available.
