The hybrid mid-engine sports coupe, which we all know is coming to an end, has been rumored since last years that it would return as an all electric model. This was hinted at by Acura Vice President and Chief Brand Officer Jon Ikeda.
Are we seeing the upcoming Honda NSX EV for the first time? We will see, but it won’t surprise us if it is. The mystery vehicle to the left is a grand tourer. Honda stated that the two electric sports cars would be a speciality and a flagship model and will be available worldwide.
Honda shared insights about its renewed EV plans specifically for market introductions in North America, China and Japan.
Honda will launch two EVs of medium-to-large size in North America in 2024. These EVs are currently being jointly developed with GM – the all new Honda Prologue SUV, and a new EV SUV to Acura. Honda will introduce 10 new EV models in China by 2027. Honda will introduce a mini-EV for commercial use in Japan by 2024. Then, Honda will launch EV SUVs for personal and private use.
Honda plans to launch affordable EVs in the second half 2020s through its alliance with GM. Honda e: Architecture will be adopted by the automaker in 2026.
Honda intends to launch 30 EV models worldwide by 2030. Honda plans to produce more than 2,000,000 units per year. A range of all-solid-state batteries is also in development. This move is similar to what Nissan recently announced.
