You will see cleaner lines when you use smaller headlights.
In recent weeks, we’ve seen many camouflaged prototypes of the seventh-generation Ford Mustangs roaming the streets near Ford headquarters in Dearborn. A leaked image may give us a glimpse of the 2024 Mustang from a front-end perspective.
Ford Authority posted a photo that was reportedly taken from an unknown source. The image appears to have the next-gen Mustang’s full face exposed. It is also evident in the embedded Facebook post. These leaks can disappear as quickly as they appear on the internet, so we don’t know how long this one will remain active.
According to spy photos, Ford is taking an evolutionary approach to the next Mustang’s design. This image supports that theory. The front is more clean with a thinner grille and headlights. The current Mustang’s corner vents are now vertically oriented and give way to smaller rectangular vents which line up perfectly with the lower grille opening. The angles of the upper and lower grilles are identical, adding symmetry to the design.
Ford will almost certainly offer slight stylistic differences among Mustang trim levels in the seventh generation. This is exactly what it does now. We can see that the body lines at the corners of lower fascia could indicate larger vents for GT models. This would allow for greater visual separation between trims, and it also suggests that this photo is of a base model. The five-spoke wheels look very similar to the EcoBoost standard wheels.
The Ford Mustang’s seventh generation is expected to be introduced in 2023. We know the V8 will be back, as spy videos with an audible V8 soundtrack, and direct words by a Ford executive. A hybrid version of the EcoBoost engine should also be possible. A fully-electric Mustang coupe may not be possible until the eighth generation pony.
