The S63 plug-in will compete with BMW’s M760e.
The Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance, a long-named car, is leading Affalterbach’s electrified performance revolution. This year, the One hypercar will be available with its hybrid V6. We’ll also see the C63 with a 4-cylinder engine and an electrical motor. The next-generation S63 PHEV will be available in 2022. It will compete with the BMW M760e, which was unveiled yesterday.
The M car features an inline-six engine. However, the AMG S63 will have a large ol’ V8 at its heart. We have rendered the super sedan before its debut, which is expected to happen sooner than anticipated. Spy shots of prototypes barely camouflaged proved that it wasn’t difficult. The S63 will receive subtle visual enhancements to its Maybach and Benz flavors in AMG S-Class fashion.
While the AMG S63 will have the obvious differences to the regular S-Class, the Panamericana grille will be replaced by quad exhausts. The AMG S63 will be closer to the road, and it will have big brakes to deal with all the power from the PHEVV8. The electrified luxobarge boasts 700 horsepower.
The rumors of a more powerful model are spreading, possibly an S73 with 800 horsepower. This would be a great vehicle to forget that there was once a V12-powered S65. It’s important to note that the twelve-cylinder engine remains available in the Maybach S680 and the S Class Guard armored saloon.
The S63 with its 571-hp punch will likely be significantly more powerful than the HTML760e. The full-size AMG luxury sedan will have zero emissions, much like the BMW with its 50-mile electric range.
The hybrid AMG C-Class/S-Class and E-Class are likely to be the E-Class, which is expected to arrive in 2025. A recent report by Autocar indicates that the E63 will switch to an electrified four cylinder like its smaller brother. However, nothing is yet official.
