Are they going to pull him over now for speeding?
In almost every way, the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is superior to its predecessor. Although it’s faster, more powerful and looks better than the Z06, that doesn’t make it a bad car. Even by modern standards, the C7 supercar is still very capable. However, can the supercar escape from a police car during a high-speed chase at speed?
You probably know what you’re about to see from the video attached. A yellow Corvette Z06 is racing alongside a Ford Explorer Police Interceptor. Yes, there is a police officer or someone dressed like one behind the wheel of the big SUV. During the race, the lights from the police patrol car are on.
Although we don’t know the engine under the Explorer’s hood, the Explorer is available with three motors in its police-police version. A hybrid model is available with 318 horsepower (234 Kilowatts), and a base 3.3 liter gasoline engine with 285 HP (209 kW). The V6 EcoBoost 3.0-liter engine produces 400 horsepower (294 kW) as well as 415 pound-feet (563 Newton meters) of torque. These figures are certainly impressive, but nothing compares to the Z06.
The 6.2-liter intercooled supercar’s V8 engine is still in use. The supercharger of a massive 1.7-liter size produces 650 horsepower (485 kW) and torque of 650 lb/ft (881 Nm). The Z06 is the fastest Explorer on the planet, able to sprint from 0-60 miles per hour (0-96 km/h) in just three seconds. The Z06’s top speed is 185 mph (298 km/h).
This race has an obvious winner, but it doesn’t make it boring. Although the Z06 beat the Explorer easily, it is still cool to see a police vehicle hitting the drag strip. We wonder if the yellow Corvette driver was pulled over by the police for speeding in the aftermath of the race.
