The thin third-gen E38 face is reintroduced in one version, while the other uses the latest BMW design language.

The flagship BMW 7 Series sedan is now available. Officially debuting on April 20, the 2023 7 Series offers a choice between internal-combustion power and all-electric motor with the all new i7. Both cars have a large grille with split headlights that make them stand out, regardless of whether you use fossil fuels or electricity.

The design process is subjective. Much has been written about BMW’s new design language. Split design will be a hallmark feature of top models moving forward. However, judging from the majority comments in our BMW 7 Series debut after, people aren’t thrilled by that idea. We can now see the potential layout of the large sedan in two different formats thanks to timely digital retouching by Nikita Chuiko, Kolesa.

The rendering at the top is the first. The split lights have been replaced by a pair narrow lenses that flank a smaller grille. The lines of the lower fascia have been smoothed, but the vertical corner vents remain. Chuiko says that the E38 7 Series, which was launched in the mid-1990s, inspired this unofficial transformation. It is evident in the narrowed face.

The second 7Series rendering (above), could be considered an evolution from the previous-generation model. The grille and headlights are more prominent than the previous design. Additionally, the front fascia has prominent vertical vents that form a rectangle across the car’s width. The grille creates a middle ground between the outgoing and incoming sedans, keeping the car’s width while reducing the overall weight of the older one.

The 7 Series can be a bit disappointing from the outside, but those who are unhappy inside can take some comfort in the interior. This is especially true for the back seat passengers who can relax and watch a movie on the 31-inch screen that folds down from their roof. The 12.3-inch digital cluster meets a 14.9 inch center display, giving drivers and front-seat passengers plenty of screens to choose from. If that isn’t enough, the 536 horsepower (400kilowatts), available in the 760ixDrive or i7xDrive60 should bring a smile to your face.
