It will be available at US dealers in the second half of this year.
Mercedes has redesigned C-Class for the model year 2022, which made us very excited about the rest of their lineup. The company is now ready to introduce AMG variants, beginning with the 2023 Mercedes AMG C43 sedan.
The styling changes Mercedes made the standard C Class receive the AMG treatment on 2023 C43. Although the styling isn’t too different from the C43, the new design feels fresh. AMG’s Panamericana grille is featured on the C43, and sits above a new lower front bumper. It’s a bit more aggressive than the C-Class standard face.
Mercedes has dropped the chrome trim around its greenhouse in favour of black pieces. The rear of the C43 features four exhaust pipes that extend from the back bumper. A slim spoiler is attached to the trunk. This adds a sporty touch to the rear-end design.
The electrified turbocharged M139l 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine powers the C43. The engine produces 402 horsepower (300kilowatts) as well as 369 pound-feet (369 Newton-meters) of torque. However, a boost function can increase horsepower by 13. It has a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Current-gen C43 has a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 motor to produce 385 horsepower (287 kW) & 384 lb.ft (520 Nm).
AMG’s 9-speed multi-clutch auto transmission routes power to the four wheels. Mercedes 4Matic all wheel-drive system divides power between the front- and rear wheels.
The C43 will come with many drive modes including Race Start, which allows for maximum acceleration at a stoplight. You will find Sport, Sport + and Comfort modes.
The C43 features AMG Ride Control with Adaptive Damping System, and rear-axle steering. Four-piston fixed calipers are used at the front, and one-piston floating at the rear to provide stopping power.
Mercedes engine’s turbocharger was designed to reduce lag. Using technology from Formula 1, Mercedes integrated a 1.6 inch thin electric motor onto its turbocharger shaft. This allows the car’s shaft to be driven directly, accelerating the compressor wheel and reducing exhaust gases.
Mercedes claims the sedan can reach 60 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds. Mercedes electronically limits the sedan’s top speed to 155mph (250 km/h), but it can reach 165mph (265 km/h) if the car is equipped with optional 19- or 20 inch wheels. Standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels.
The interior of the C43 is a redesigned version of the model’s interior. It was inspired by the new Mercedes S-Class. Mercedes has added sporty touches such as the AMG seats and flat-bottom AMG steering wheels, AMG sport pedals, red topstitching, and AMG sport pedals throughout the interior. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is available to drivers. A 11.9-inch touchscreen in the center provides access to vehicle controls and the infotainment system.
Mercedes has not yet revealed the price of the 2023 C43; however, we expect that the company will release these details closer to the car’s launch date. The 2023 C43 will be available to US dealers by the end of 2022.
