The Tech Crunch Continues: Audi Q3 loses keyless entry, A4 and Q5 drop systems

A factory-fitted tow unit may not be available for the Q7 or SQ7.

The chip shortage crisis won’t go away anytime soon. Even the most optimistic analysts of the automotive industry predict a normalized production cycle in the sector by the middle next year. It’s impossible to predict the future, as there are many unknown factors. Audi is taking extreme measures to adapt to this new reality.

German premium brand, the German Premium Brand, won’t let customers leave without their deposits. Instead, they will sell cars with fewer standard and optional features. It might not be something you like, but it is the only way an automaker can keep its deliveries moving. Audi is going to cut key features from some models. A new report by Edmunds sheds light on the missing features for the model year 2022.

Some 2022 Audi models may be shipped with the Semiconductor Shortage package. This term is actually used by the manufacturer. It removes options like blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control. The Semiconductor Shortage can be found on the sticker. It comes with a cash credit, depending on how many features were removed.

Edmunds reports that some Q3 models can be delivered without keyless entry. This comes with a credit of $375. For $250 more credit, the Q3 Premium models might not come with a wireless charging pad. The larger HTML5 may not receive a blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert and rear collision detection system (a credit of $350), while Q5 Prestige models might not have heated or cooled cupholders (a credit of $150).

Each 2022 A4 or 2022 S4 will be equipped with a factory-fitted trailer module. While this is not a huge loss on sedans, it could mean that even the S7 will be missing the tow module for the 2022 model years. Customers could receive models such as the S6, Q7 and SQ7 without a tire pressure monitor. The 2022 S3 Black Optic package, which may not include a black roofing, is perhaps the most bizarre.
