Your new Ram 1500 will make you stand out.
The coronavirus pandemic and the resulting sales slump was an upsetting year for automakers. Ram nearly beat the Chevy Silverado to take the second spot, behind the Ford F-150. However, Ram sales dropped 11 percent between 2019 and 2020. Ram has launched a new campaign with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl to close the gap in sales. While he only appears in one, he narrates them both. A third ad will debut later this month.
“Rock Star” & “Overtime” are two spots that focus on parents, caregivers, coaches and teachers who help children overcome their difficulties. There is also a strong presence of the Ram 1500. The ad campaign also features the band’s music, including the opening song “Making a Fire” taken from the 2020 album “Medicine at Midnight”.
While The Foo Fighters represents a departure from country music artists that Ram has worked with previously, Ram isn’t abandoning rock music. Olivier Francois, Stellantis’ Global Chief Market Officer, stated to Variety this was an opportunity for Ram to reach its target customer. To discover that the Foo Fighters were popular with truck buyers, the company used a third-party tool. It outperformed the most well-known country musicians.
Ram will continue to sell tons of 1500 pickups by 2021 but it also has a new star: the high-performance TRX. This beastly off-roader gives the Ford F-150 Raptor a tough time by combining off-road capability and a ridiculous amount of power. The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 generates 702 horsepower (523 Kilowatts) as well as 650 pound-feet (881 Newton meters) of torque. This should be a big hit with people.
Ram’s “Spotlight” ad campaign will launch just before Mother’s Day. It will be available on TV, YouTube and Facebook. Francois said that the story of the Foo Fighters and Ram Truck began 25 years ago, when they packed into a Ram van to go on the road looking for a dream. Francois said that the people who supported the band through this unique journey enabled them to chase their dreams.
