It will keep up with a GT40 until the first turn.
We have come to expect some crazy builds from Hennessey performance. We should not forget that this company has shown us a 6×6 Chevy silverado and recently revealed a Jeep Trackhawk which is as fast as a Dodge Challenger Demon in the quarter mile. This retro-inspired Ford F-150 is now available. But the inspiration didn’t come directly from an old truck. This inspiration comes from 1967 Ford GT40, which won LeMans. This is the 2019 Hennessey Heritage F-150.
The defining feature of this rig’s design is its arrest-me red finish with white racing stripes. This design is an exact replica of the Mk IV GT40 race car driven by A.J. Gurney and Dan Gurney, racing legends. Foyt right down to the number 1 on the door. The GT40 did not have Hennessey branding. It also didn’t have an additional set of doors, or the ability of carrying a wet bar with multiple kegs. These attributes aren’t ideal for lapping Circuit de la Sarthe. However, this pickup has some serious performance chops.
The Heritage F-150 would actually give the GT40 a tough fight in straight lines. The 5.0-liter Ford V8 is under the hood. Hennessey tweaks it to produce 758 horsepower (565kW) through an upgraded intake, exhaust, fuel system and a massive supercharger. Hennessey also offers a sport suspension, which drops the truck and adds beefy bars. Hennessey also includes six-piston brakes as well as sticky rubber 22-inch wheels. Although it’s unlikely you would challenge any GT40 from any vintage through the bends, you could have a lot of fun trying.
Hennessey is also available for off-road action. You will need a 2.5-inch suspension kit with 20-inch wheels, 33-inch offroad tires, and a 20-inch suspension lift kit. For off-roaders, there is also a big brake kit.
Hennessey’s F-150 isn’t the only heritage vehicle that has a connection to 1967 LeMans. It is joined by a 2019 Mustang GT and 2018 Ford GT. The 2005 Ford GT wears the same red suit as the original GT40. It makes for great photo opportunities, we must admit.
Like with all Hennessey special-edition creations, production will remain very restricted. Only 19 Heritage F-150s will be produced, and prices start at $94,950
