Exterior gets a minor makeover, including a single-frame grille with vertical Chrome accents, bumpers that are more distinctive, underbody protection, new bumpers, improved side sills and aggressive flares. The standard halogen headlights are available, but the optional xenon+ package includes xenon headlights as well as an adaptive-lighting system and LED daytime running lights. There is also air intake mounted LED turn signaling. An optional aluminum exterior styling package includes additional chrome accents, bumpers in body colors, and a contrasting scheme for the front and rear diffusers.
The interior changes to the 2010 Q7 include an upgraded instrument cluster with larger displays, more chrome accents and door mounted ambient lighting. A new trim piece is also included for the passenger side dashboard.
There are four diesel engines and two petrol engines that can provide power. A 3.6-liter FSI v6 petrol engine produces 206 kW (280 bhp), 360 Nm torque, and a 4.2 liter FSI v8 which produces 257 kW (355 bhp), and 440 Nm torque.
The diesel engine is a 3.0-liter TDI that produces 176 kW (240 bhp), and 550 Nm. It is rated at 9.1 L/100 km (25.85 US mpg). There is also a 3.0 TDI “clean diesel”. It features an advanced common rail injector, a high performance exhaust recirculating system and a DeNOx catalyst. The 3.0 TDI consumes 8.9L/100km (26.43 US mpg), and meets the Euro 6 emission standards. Despite being larger for 2010, the 4.2-liter V8 TDI has a significantly lower fuel consumption. The engine’s fuel economy has improved from 11.1L/100km (21.19 US MPG) to 9.9L/100km (23.76 US MPG) and its output is now 250kW (340 bhp and 760 Nm.
It also features the range-topping Q7 V12 TDI, which boasts 368 kW (580 bhp) as well as a huge 1,000 Nm torque. This monster has a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155.34mph). It also boasts a fuel efficiency rating of 11.3 L/100 km (20.82 US MPG).
