A recent report claims that Toyota and BMW are working together to develop a new supercar.
Motoring reports that a prototype of the vehicle has been built. It features a mid-engine layout and an all-wheel-drive system. Rumours also suggest that the prototype will include an aluminum space frame as well as a carbon fibre tub.
Although the cars will share the same architecture, the BMW would be a plug in hybrid with a twin-turbo six cylinder engine. According to reports, the Lexus would feature front electric motors as well as a tuned version of the 3.7-liter V8 from the TS040 racecar. The LFA successor would be able to produce an estimated 800 bhp (596kW) combined.
Although we take everything with a huge grain of salt, it is possible that the cars will be revealed in time for 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
