Although the new SUV has not been officially announced, it is here.
Honda’s most secretive model, the new CR-V made its official debut in February. Patent images showing the exterior revealed the SUV’s evolution styling. These were identical to what we had seen in spy photos last year, when camouflaged prototypes of the CR-V were captured being tested. We are now taking a closer look at the sixth-gen model ahead of its official debut.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has homologated the model in China. Images of future models are posted on the MIIT website as part of this process. These photos show the model that will be sold in the most populous country in the world, but the global model should look almost identical. Although it’s not the most innovative design, it looks more modern than the fifth-generation model that has been on sale since 2016.
These images are accompanied by specs. The Dongfeng Honda 2023 CRV measures 4,703 millimeters (185.1 in) in length, 1,866 mm (73.4in) wide, and 1,690 mm (65 in) high. Although it might seem like you are looking at the same vehicle, the photo gallery below shows two distinct vehicles. The model with all-wheel drive can be used for five people, while the model without it on the tailgate can hold up to seven.
They weigh in at 1,685 kg (3,714 lbs) and have a wheelbase of 2,700 mm (106.2 inches). The turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine is rated at 190 horsepower (142 kW). It’s connected via CVT. This hardware configuration allows for a top speed at 117 mph (188 km/h). The wheels of the CR-Vs are different. While the FWD model has 17-inch alloys, the AWD model has an 18-inch set.
A public reveal is expected to occur in the next few months. However, as you can see, the cat (mostly) is already out of the bag.
