Prototype of Ford Mustang Next-Gen Prototype Cruising with Mach 1

The Ford Mustang’s seventh generation is on the horizon. It will still have a V8 engine underneath. Although special packages and higher-powered versions of the GT are almost certain, the nature of these models is not yet known. Dearborn has released new spy photos that suggest a Mach 1 is possible.

One prototype in heavy camouflage was seen on the streets. It looks quite aggressive. The wheel/tire combination is new and it has quad exhaust outlets at its rear. We wouldn’t consider Mach1 a single-model trim, except for the second-generation Mustang II, which was an appearance package. This particular prototype was photographed after a new HTML1. We can’t overlook similarities in the tire widths and exhaust finishers. The front wheels also have massive brakes.

The decklid doesn’t seem to be covered by a Mach 1 spoiler, however. The front fascia and hood look very similar to spy photos that have been taken of a GT prototype. While the Mach 1 Premium trim has the prominent chin spoiler and big wing, the standard version does not have them. We can’t confirm that the prototype is the next-generation Mach 1. Big tires, bold exhaust tips, and big brakes could be a GT performance package or a Shelby model. It’s certainly fascinating that the car is following a Mach 1.

Only four Mustang models have had a Mach 1 in the 40-year history of Mustang . The fourth-generation pony was over. It featured a naturally-aspirated DOHC V8 engine with shaker hood that made 305 horsepower. In 2021, the moniker was revived with an aero-aero combination and Shelby suspension. The modified 5.0-liter V8 made 480 horsepower.

The Ford Mustang 7th-generation will be available in 2023 and 2024 as a 2024 model.
