The price for the 964-era 911 starting at $135,000.
Russell Built Fabrication’s Baja Spec Porsche 911 won the 2019 SEMA Show. The build went into production and the aftermarket tuner has a new creation. The Safari Sportsman is a 964-era Porsche 911 that’s made more affordable for off-road use.
Although the 911 Safari Sportsman may be a little more refined than the Baja Spec, it still offers many big upgrades. Russell Built rebuilt the suspension system, including the rear subframe and box steel trailing arms. King Shocks internal bypass coilovers were also integrated. The Porsche 911 now has 10 inches of rear-wheel travel thanks to the upgrades that included a longer wheelbase and track.
The tuner also went to the front and improved the suspension. He installed a lower steel A-arm, hub bearings and heavy-duty units, as well as a custom EXETC adjustable strut. New camber plates are also included in the upgraded Porsche. The Porsche has the Turbo look, with a widebody kit to help contain the 911’s off-road parts.
Russell Built created the Safari Sportsman package for the 964’s stock engine. Customers who require more power can get upgrades from the tuner. The tuner can rebuild any engine, from a mild 3.8-liter upgrade to a 400-horsepower (298 watt) 4.0-liter. Customers can also upgrade their transmission.
This package contains everything you need for off-road Porsche fun. Russell Built also offers an a la carte selection of accessories. There are two options for roof racks available to the tuner, one of which is a low-profile carbon fiber unit. Customers also have the option to choose a traditional tube-style unit. The tuner offers a roll-hoop and rear-seat deletion package, carbon-covered rally lights and an air compressor. It also includes steel tube bumpers and skid plates.
Russell Built now takes orders for in-house builds. Prices start at $135,000. TJ Russell, founder of the company, stated that the goal of the Safari Sportsman package is to make it more affordable for 964 owners. Prices start at $135,000. The Safari Sportsman package can be bolted on, with very little fabrication, which allows for a quicker and more affordable 911 conversion.
